DAEOC’s Homeless Department can help with a Housing Assessment and provide resources or financial assistance for families experiencing homelessness in our coverage area, also known as Region 6 of the Missouri Balance of State Continuum of Care. DAEOC’s coverage includes Scott, New Madrid, Mississippi, Dunklin, Stoddard and Pemiscot Counties.

DAEOC is the lead agency for the Region 6 Coordinated Entry system and acts as one of the access points for this region. As an access point for Coordinated Entry, DAEOC provides a centralized intake and housing assessment for individuals and families who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness, thereby assuring a comprehensive community-wide service and housing delivery system. Residents of Region 6, may call DAEOC at the number above for a housing assessment, emergency assistance and/or referrals.

If you are currently homeless and would like to sign up for the DAEOC Homeless Shelter located in Sikeston Missouri, you can call the Homeless Shelter at the number above to acquire a preliminary shelter application. If possible, you can also click here for an application that you can print. The Homeless Shelter works off of a priority waiting list. In order for us to efficiently prioritize your family’s needs and situation the preliminary application must be accompanied by third party documentation of your homeless situation. In order to stay active on the Homeless Shelter priority waiting list please read the following instructions:

Once your application and referral letter are received, you will be placed on the priority-based waiting list; however, to remain on the waiting list you will need to contact the shelter on a weekly basis. The office is open Monday-Thursday 7:00am to 4:30pm. If you cannot call during the specified hours or we are out of the office please leave a message on the answering machine, identifying yourself and the reason for your call. If you fail to contact us every week, your name will be taken off of the waiting list.

*Please note: There is a shortage of housing and homeless resources in our region and DAEOC is not able to help all people experiencing a housing or homeless crisis with immediate housing access.
