Who Qualifies for SkillUP?
SkillUP services are available at no cost to individuals who meet the following criteria:
Active SNAP Recipient
You currently receive Food Stamp (SNAP) benefits in the state of Missouri.
Age Requirement
You are between the ages of 18 and 54 and seeking to enter the workforce or advance your career.
Able Bodied Adults eithput Dependents/(ABAWD) Participants
You can fulfill your required 80 hours per month of work or training activities (ages 18–54) through SkillUP.
Ready & Willing to Work
You are committed to completing a short-term training course, obtaining a certification, or finding employment.

Is the SkillUP program really 100% free?
Yes! SkillUP is funded through the state of Missouri to help SNAP recipients gain job skills. Qualifying training courses, certifications, textbooks, uniforms, and support services are covered at no cost to you.
Will participating in SkillUP affect my Food Stamps (SNAP)?
No, participating in SkillUP will not reduce or cause you to lose your SNAP benefits. In fact, if you are an ABAWD participant (ages 18–54), SkillUP activities fulfill your mandatory monthly work or training hours.
What kind of training programs can I take?
SkillUP covers short-term, high-demand career pathways through local vocational schools and community colleges. Popular fields include Healthcare (CNA, Phlebotomy), CDL Truck Driving, Welding, HVAC, Plumbing, and Office/Business Administration.
What kind of extra help or support can I get?
In addition to training tuition, DAEOC SkillUP can help cover supportive expenses such as gas cards, bus passes, minor vehicle repairs, required work tools/uniforms, and childcare assistance while attending training.
How long does it take to hear back after submitting the form?
Once you submit the online interest form, a DAEOC SkillUP Specialist will reach out to you within 1 to 2 business days to discuss your goals and help you schedule an intake appointment.
